Find out how to order everything you need for your Home Oxygen

Placing an order

You can place an order by using our online secure system. Orders taken between 8am and 5pm will be processed for next working day delivery.

Please note any orders received after 5pm, over a weekend or Bank Holiday will be classed as being received the next working day.

You should not allow you oxygen supply to run out before ordering. Whilst BOC can respond to urgent requests, these have a significant impact on other work, including other urgent activity commitments.

Please ensure that all your full cylinders are stored separately from your empty ones to avoid confusion. We have a duty of care to ensure that we only deliver the level of oxygen required by your latest prescription. If you should exceed this, our homecare technician will mention this when you next order.

Patient Service Centre

Our Patient Service Centre is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and our dedicated team will be happy to take your call.

Our normal ordering hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Orders placed within these hours will be offered as next working day delivery. Outside these hours is an emergency service only.

We will also be happy to deal with any general queries you may have on our Patient Line 0800 136 603, or via email boc.ehoof@nhs.net.

Your satisfaction is important to us and we welcome any feedback that may help us improve our service and products.

Ordering consumables

Cannula, masks (if authorised by your clinician) and Tender Grip® plasters are available from your Homecare Technicians whenever they visit to replenish the oxygen cylinders or service the equipment.

However, we appreciate at times these may be required when a delivery or visit is not due. When this is the case you can ring our Patient Service Advisors to arrange these items to be posted or you can use our Online Order Form.

Secondary Supply

We can also install a secondary oxygen supply at nurseries, schools, care environments or workplace. We would require an additional prescription from your clinician for this installation.

If you want to stay with friends or go on holiday, you can with some simple advance planning. You will need to contact BOC on 0800 136 603 and provide us with details of the address you will be staying at for the duration of your holiday and the dates travelling. For further information, please refer to our holiday section.

If it is not deemed suitable for a liquid oxygen mother unit vessel, we can still supply you with either standard or lightweight portable cylinders, dependent on the prescription that has been supplied by your clinician.

FAQs

When to order your Oxygen Cylinders

We suggest you order when you start using your last cylinder. Remember to order supplies for the weekend before 4pm on Thursday.

How do I order cannula, masks and Tender Grip® plasters?

Cannula, masks (if authorised by your clinician) and Tender Grip ® plasters are available from your homecare technician whenever they visit to replenish the oxygen cylinders or service the equipment.

However, we appreciate at times these may be required when a delivery or visit is not due. When this is the case you can ring our Patient Service Advisors to arrange these items to be posted.

The Patient Service Advisors will ask you what size cannula you have; most common adult ones we use are 1606 (curved) and 1057 (straight).

Can you have an estimated time of delivery?

We receive a lot of calls from patients who have placed an order and on the day of delivery would like an estimated time. Unfortunately due to the nature of the service we deliver we are unable to give this information. The homecare technician who is scheduled to do your delivery may be en-route but if we receive an emergency hospital discharge or an emergency order for a patient with no oxygen or have to respond to a power cut/breakdown these calls must take priority and they may have to change their route.

There are things you can do so you don’t have to be in:
  • Do you have a safe/dry place you can leave your empty cylinders so that we can do the exchange whether you are in or not?
  • If you do, just give us delivery instructions in advance. This will always stay on your account letting the driver know where the cylinders will be.
  • If you do have a day that is appointment free and are able to wait in we will be happy to take your order in advance and deliver Monday to Friday.

When to order your Liquid Oxygen

We suggest you order your Liquid Oxygen Unit:
  • If your unit has an electronic gauge: Order when your mother unit is showing 2 bars.
  • If your unit has a manual gauge: Order when the gauge is quarter full.

Can I have a new type of cylinder/concentrator/mask?

If you require equipment which you have not been provided previously, typically you will need a new Home Oxygen Order Form (HOOF) from your GP or clinician which would then be sent to us. Once received, we will contact you to provide you with the new equipment.

Please be aware that GPs can only request basic equipment and that any specialist oxygen such as lightweight cylinders, Liquid Oxygen and transportable/concentrators must be arranged by a qualified respiratory nurse or hospital clinician.

If you do not have one or are unsure of who to contact, your GP can arrange for a respiratory nurse to assess you. Please note that prescription of specialist oxygen will be at the discretion of the ordering doctor or nurse, in line with your clinical needs.

Can I move my oxygen equipment to a new address?

If you are moving home, please let us know as soon as possible by calling our Patient Service Centre on 0800 136 603. This is critical to ensure that we maintain regular oxygen supplies and service requirements.

Our oxygen team we will arrange a new set of equipment to be delivered to your destination and for your existing oxygen equipment to be removed separately from your home address. We do not recommend patients move equipment themselves.

Please note that bulkier equipment such as static cylinders, concentrators and Liquid Oxygen base units are not safe to be transported in a car.
